“Thank you everyone. That is great advice I will follow.
That’s what is so great about this forum - generous
guidance :) from people that have been there!” -Posted

Hi everyone,

Today’s issue is about something that will make the
difference between doing OK and doing extremely well with
your MAS business.

The difference is the effort that you put into making your
sites original and avoiding duplicate content (meaning stuff
that is word-for-word the same as somewhere else on the
web). For the very best results, everything on your site
needs to be (mostly) in your own words.

When you add information to your site from other sources
such as articles and product descriptions it is tempting to
just leave them the way they are and tell yourself you will
get to rewriting them “later”.

Don’t do it! Even though you may still get traffic and some
sales, you won’t rank as high with the search engines
because they tend to ignore sites with duplicate content.
The good news is that the best way to build MAS sites is
slowly over a period of time so you only need to add a few
products or articles at a time and modify the content as you
go.

This is from a pretty long thread in the forum, but some
interesting stuff came up about duplicate content…

Len,

Are you suggesting that we change every product description
provided from the merchants? Barry

Actually…YES!

If you want to get the most out of the system.

Like all things in life, you get out what you put in. The
more work you are willing to do, the better your return will
be.

You can make money without writing the original content. But
you will make a lot more, a lot quicker if you are willing
to do as we say.

As for not realizing how much work it would be…

I have ALWAYS known how much work it would be for you to
build successful sites, and I have never implied otherwise.

And I also know that unfortunately most people will not do
the work.

But those who do will reap he benefits.

And I hope you will be one of them.

SANDY’S FAVORITE RESOURCES & TOOLS
========================================

Want to use a great (and FREE!) tool to help you quickly
modify your content and let you know immediate how unique it
is?

I read about this resource in the MAS forum, recommended by
“thedoc” called DupeCop. It has a duplicate content
checker that works great and I’ve been using it ever since:

http://www.dupecop.com/duplicate-content-checker.php

You simply highlight the original text you want to modify,
copy it (ctrl-c on a PC keyboard for a shortcut) and paste
it into the left window of DupeCop (ctrl-v).

Now just re-write the text in your own words in the right
window. Don’t spend too much time agonizing over it, just
find a slightly different way to say the same thing. For
example:

Original Text:

iPhone is a revolutionary new mobile phone that allows you
to make a call by simply tapping a name or number in your
address book, a favorites list, or a call log. It also
automatically syncs all your contacts from a PC, Mac, or
Internet service. And it lets you select and listen to
voicemail messages in whatever order you want — just like
email.

Modified Text:

iPhone is a new and exciting mobile phone that changes the
way you make phone calls. You can easily tap a name or
number in your address book or a call log. The sleek new
iPhone allows you to choose and hear your voicemail messages
in any order you want — just like you can with email. Would
you like to conveniently coordinate all your contacts from
the internet, your Mac or even a PC? You can do that too.

It’s easy! Give it a try!

Sandy

By Sandy Swain | July 24, 2007 - 12:54 am - Posted in Articles

I spent this past weekend at a well known annual seminar. And as usual, I spent a good part of the weekend, talking to people, and answering their questions about what they need to do, to be successful.

And the answer that their questions prompted, was the same answer over and over again…

DO SOMETHING! DO ANYTHING! JUST GET STARTED!

Human nature is a funny thing. 99.9% of us are so afraid of failure and rejection, that we never put ourselves in a position to experience either.

But the sad part is, by protecting our delicate egos so carefully, we NEVER get anywhere. We just stay in our ‘comfort zones’ and continue to say…”What If”.

I’ve spent countless hours listening to people’s ideas, and aspirations. And, their frustration at not knowing how to achieve their dreams.

One gentleman at this seminar told me he’s spent the last three years studying Internet marketing. Listening to, and reading everything he could get his hands on.

Then he told me he thought he’d finally heard what he needed to hear to get started, there at the seminar.

But the sad realty is, when he gets home, he’ll most likely get back into his rut, and not put whatever it was he heard, into action. He’ll just sit back in his easy chair, turn on the game, and settle back into his Comfort Zone. Because, it’s easier to stay where you are, than to face the possibility that you might fail.

He’s obviously not happy with his lot in life, and aspires to bigger and better things, in his fantasies. But he’s “Comfortable” where he’s at. It’s a known factor.

And as long as he doesn’t ‘TRY’ to do something else, he’ll always have the fantasy, that when he’s “ready”, he CAN do it.

Folks, we’re all afraid of failure!

If you let it, every failure we endure, puts another notch in our delicate egos. And it gets harder and harder to let go of that protection mechanism that keeps our egos safe, the one that keeps us from putting ourselves on the line, and finding out if we have what it takes to reach out and GRAB our fantasies, and make them realities.

But, everytime you put it off, it gets harder and harder to get started. That nasty black fear of failure gets a tighter grip on your heart, and your fears increase ten fold.

One guy I talked to at length, put it like this…

“It’s like seeing a beautiful woman you want to ask out, but your afraid.

What if she says no?

What if I’m not good looking enough for her?

What if I’m not interesting enough?

You agonize over asking her, day after day, trying to get up the nerve. But each day, it gets a little harder.

And then one day, she meets someone else, and your chance is gone.”

It’s easier to live with the failure of knowing you blew it because you were to shy to ask, than to live with the possibility of the rejection you know you’d feel if she said no!

If you don’t ask, at least you can still tell yourself she MIGHT have said yes, and keep the fantasy alive.

And your ego will still be safe and snug in it’s protective little shell.

But my friend, one thing is DEFINITELY true…

If you don’t ask, she’ll NEVER say yes!

Those who succeed in life, are the ones that take chances. The ones that take action…PERIOD!

Getting Ready to Get Ready to Get Ready will NEVER be a road to success … for ANYTHING!

Truth is, you most likely WON’T be successful the first time out of the gate. And you’ll probably fail MANY times before you have a success.

But you’ll never get to your successes, until you get your failures out of the way!

The failures of our lives are the most important elements in the process of achievement. You need to have them first, so you can analyze them, and learn from them what NOT to do the next time.

If you had asked her, she might have said yes…and then again, she might have said no. But if she had said no, at least you could then let go of that fantasy, and move on to the next “Apple of your eye”.

But, more importantly, you’d then have an experience you could learn from, and have a better chance at success the next time, or the time after that, or the time after that, until finally…You Get It Right!

The truth is…Without those failures, there can BE no successes. The longer you put them off, the less likely you’ll ever be, to finally…

TAKE ACTION!

Your “Dreams” start out as ideas. But, unless you ACT on them as soon as they appear, they BECOME fantasies, and then only serve to keep you where you are, snug and safe, in your “Comfort Zone”.

“The only thing worse than giving up, is not getting started at all!

These truths always become self evident on our deathbeds. The question is, do you want to look back and say “If only I’d have…” or would you rather be able to say “I gave it my Best Shot, and didn’t let fear get in my way!”

Win or lose, there’s a lot of satisfaction in knowing you gave it all you had. And NO ONE will ever fault you for that!

Another gentleman I spent more than an hour with, was someone I’ve met many times at many seminars. He’s a guy who is sitting on a Goldmine, but hasn’t yet taken action.

I first met him over a year ago, when he was first trying to learn how to make money on the internet.

We had a long discussion about the steps needed to be successful, and given his background, I even told him exactly what his first project should be, and how to get it started.

He’s a sharp, intelligent guy, and I fully expected to hear that he had been very successful, in the coming months and years.

But when I saw him again this weekend, he told me that not only had he not done it yet, but that he had counseled with such great marketing minds as Alex Mandossian, and Frank Garron, about what he should do. And THEY had given him the exact same advice that I had given him over a year ago.

And yet, here he is. Still going to seminars. Still…

Getting Ready to Get Ready to Get Ready!

I’ve spent my lifetime, teaching people to be successful at one thing or another. Some were successful, and some just didn’t have what it took to make it in whatever area of expertise I was trying to teach them at the time.

It’s inevitable! No matter what the people trying to sell you their “Courses” want you to believe, not EVERYONE is cut out to be a successful Internet Marketer, or Doctor, Or Carpenter, Or…Whatever! You usually know within a few minutes of conversation, whether or not they have what it takes to succeed.

But it’s generally not a matter of whether or not they’re intelligent enough to learn it. It’s almost always a matter of whether or not they have the self confidence and more importantly, the drive it takes to get them over the failures and rejections they’ll inevitably have to go through, before they reach their goal.

And, I can’t tell you how much it hurts me to see an intelligent, nice, creative and capable person, sitting on his laurels, instead of taking action.

All this guy has to do, is get off his butt, and jump in with both feet. And I guarantee you, he’ll be wealthy within a year! But the longer he puts it off, the less likely he’ll ever get it done!

If you want to be successful, you have to…

DO SOMETHING! DO ANYTHING! JUST GET STARTED!

Take a deep breath, jump in the water and LEARN to swim! If you go under the first couple of times, kick and scratch your way back to the surface, until you figure out HOW to tread water!

Then.. you can master the skills of swimming the length of the pool.

But, you can’t learn to swim, by reading books and watching everyone else enjoying THEIR pools.
YOU HAVE TO GET IN THE FRIGGIN’ WATER!

We ALL have ideas. And frankly, MOST of them are pretty bad!

But there ARE always a few good ones in us all, and you’ll never know which Ideas will make you rich, until you jump in and “Learn To Tread Water” first!

Don’t let your fear paralyze you!

Face your fears, and decide today, that you’ll take that first step, and USE the results, good or bad, to get you one step closer to your goal.

You only need three things to reach your goal, and those are …

the fact that you want it,

you need it,

and you’re NOT going to let anything stand in your way!

The rest is easy.

Everything else you need to know, you’ll learn along the way, if you’re determined enough to make it happen.

But first…You Have To Get Started!

Here’s to YOUR Success,
Len Thurmond

MAS Newsletter Vol 1, Issue 1

“Remember, today is the tomorrow you worried about yesterday.”
– Dale Carnegie

Hi everyone!

I’m very excited to announce the first edition of the My
Affiliate Store Online Newsletter! I hope it will be a great
source of information and inspiration to you all.

My name is Sandy Swain and I will be working as an assistant
to Len Thurmond and Bruce Safran to give additional support
to the members of My Affiliate Store. I have already
introduced myself in the forum but I will share it again
here.

My background: I worked for Stephen Covey as a Senior
Program Coordinator for his “7 Habits of Highly Effective
People” seminar where I learned to really enjoy helping
people define their personal and business mission
statements.

Before getting into Internet Marketing, I have been a
database designer, a sales rep for an ISP, and a Macintosh
computer consultant. When Len & Bruce snapped me up I had
been working as a JV (Joint Venture) Promotions Manager for
a couple of marketing gurus. I love business and marketing
and am always excited about new technologies.

I have worked with Len on other projects before–in fact,
that is my melodious voice on the training videos for
AutoBlogger and Traffic on Steroids. I’m very excited to be
associated with such wonderful people and with a product I
can recommend with confidence.

So…why this newsletter?

I was talking with Len the other night about how helpful the
user forums are and how we wished every single member was
taking full advantage of them. I said something like “You
know what would be cool? If we sent out a newsletter with
some of the best stuff from the forums so everyone would
know what a great resource they are.”

And BOOM…I had a new job. :-)

========================================
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THE MAS NEWSLETTER
========================================
***Best of the MAS Forum***

Once per week I will select a post or discussion of interest
to share with you. It might be a great tip, technique or
useful resource that someone has discovered. Perhaps an
inspiring success story. I’ll be asking some of our forum
members to nominate what they feel should be honored with
the “Best of the MAS Forum”.

***”Len’s Letters” and “Bruce’s Big Ideas”***

I’ll be constantly pestering Len & Bruce for their latest
thoughts on traffic generation, site construction and
ecommerce in general. Sometimes they actually have good
things to say!

I’ll pick the tidbits that I like the best and share them
with you. (Hey, Len said it was MY newsletter. :-D )

***Announcements and Updates***

I will let you know here when there are new features and
updates that you will want to be aware of. (And, of course,
you can always find these in the forum as well).

So without further adieu, we present

“How do I submit my site to Yahoo?”
—————————
Begin post:

Okay, here’s what needs to be done in order to get your site submitted to YAHOO:

Go to https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com

Go to “My Sites” to get started. Enter your url

(From here on you just follow the steps it gives you)

It will probably ask you to login with your yahoo account if you haven’t already done so.

It then asks you to “authenticate” your site. It asks you to choose verification method by giving you two options:
